Psychotherapy Is a conversation that can be about anything and can go anywhere: a space to explore what’s on your mind or what’s hard to grasp and name. It can cover all kinds of psychological terrain and all emotional weathers.

Weekly conversation that sustains exploration over time builds a relationship which enables the slow tracing of feelings, sensations, and thoughts. To reach these layers of memory, its important to have a therapist who can resonate with you and help register the emotion and meaning.

Psychotherapy is a living, breathing relationship offering a containing human contact for the expression of uncertainties, fears and longing, anger, protest and hope. It is collaborative. It’s a process of gradual discovery. It’s a cumulative and interactive process of participation and reflection.

For some there is a clear focus, for others there may be a more gradual widening and deepening of enquiry to find the roots of an issue, or locate the source that re-energises. Experiences from childhood can linger as chronic hurt, distrust, anger or fear. Considering how early attachments have affected us can lead to deeper understanding and more choices in the present and future.

I have seen that when a person is not rooted in their own internal experience of their body as a felt sense, they feel looked at, rather than witnessed and related to.

And the more we experience being looked at in this disconnected way, the more we will feel objectified, as having surface but not depth, as being evaluated ….

And so, we objectify ourselves.

I encourage your curiosity and your self-compassion, offering feedback, challenge and experiments that can open new pockets of awareness. Together, we can explore and untangle patterns in relationships, unearthing unconscious beliefs, moving towards insight, and gaining a deeper sense of self, of feeling heard and seen.

Psychotherapy is a process akin to ecological awareness in recognizing that our experience is made up of numerous moments and themes: of lateral, interlacing relations of this to that. To explore and affiliate with your own life energy and your biological bonds with humans and all creatures is a deep and complicated process that is at the heart of development as a person and as a species. As Edward O. Wilson, ecologist, socio-biologist and developer of the idea of Biophilia wrote “our existence depends on this propensity, our spirit is woven from it, hope rises on its currents. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biophilia_hypothesis
